How To Find Drivers for Unknown Devices

One of the worst situation for a hardware engineer is to find the right driver for a device like soundcard , display and so on... The problem to begin searching for the right driver may be that we are unaware of the chip set or manufacture of the device, or we lost the Driver CD. Here is the right solution for you. Check out http://www.pcidatabase.com/ give the vendor ID and device ID of the unknown device, and you will get info about the manufacturer and the device type. Then you can start your search for the driver.

 

 

How to Find Device ID

 

1. Right click on My computer icon on the Desktop.


2. Click on "Properties".


3. Click on the "Hardware" Tab.


4. Click on the "Device Manager" button.


5. Select the the Device you want to know the Device ID. Right click on that device and Click on "Properties".


6. Select "Details" Tab. You can find the "Device ID" there.
