Five units of RTPP Rayala Seema Thermal Power Project were `tripped off' today because of technical reasons, and there was shortage of staff to attend to them because of the general strike called by pro-united Andhra Pradesh protesters, authorities said.
Most staff did not report because of the strike call given by the government employees association APNGOs, said superintendent engineer K V Ramana Reddy, who expressed hope that repairs would be carried out tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the bandh passed off peacefully in the district, barring a couple of incidents of violence. A BSNL office was pelted with stones at Kodur. Offices, shops, schools, etc remained closed for the second day today. Several rallies were held across the district.
